Anele Ngcambaza, (BBA 1 student) got to fly to Johannesburg for his internship! From the 27th June to Sat the 23rd July, Anele interned at the Sci-Bono Discovery Centre.
The Sci-Bono Discovery Centre is the largest science centre in Southern Africa. It encourages interest in the ‘wide world of science’. The centre is a school for students in grades 10-12 who want to learn more about Science, Technology and Maths. It provides training for teachers and extra winter classes for learners.
Anele organized the internship by phoning and emailing, and telling the centre facilitator and head of IT department, Zolani Zuma, about his interest in Maths. Needless to say, the centre took Anele on and even paid for his flight. Anele was under Phumlani Dlamini’s supervision.
Anele was responsible for administration work in his time at the Centre. He said that the computer skills he learned at TSiBA were essential, and so was knowing how to write a report. Anele is quite the Mathematician, and he got to spend three of his days there teaching maths to the students!
All in all, Anele had a wonderful time, his highlight being able to teach what he’s good at.
