TSiBA Graduation 2011

Once again this year we assembled the entire TSiBA community in one place to witness one of the most looked forward to events on the TSiBA calendar. If one were to choose one word to describe this particular event it would most certainly prove to be a challenging exercise in the true meaning of the word. I’ve been very fortunate to have had the opportunity to experience all three graduation ceremonies that TSiBA Education has hosted this far and I must admit that in all of them it almost seemed impossible for me to control my emotions. I can even recall very clearly one particular ceremony where one of my lecturers noticed tears falling down my face and she asked whether I was okay. I’m well aware of the fact that there are few men out there who will admit that they are crying because they are moved by a graduation ceremony, and I most definitely was not going to be one of them.

One of the reasons why I look forward to attending graduation ceremony is the inspiration that one receives by being a part of such a great community. On this special occasion we celebrate not only the graduates on what they have achieved but also the families, lecturers, the institution and friends for the outstanding manner in which they have inspired and contributed to the achievements of those graduates. Reflection is one of the most treasured values at TSiBA Education hence any ceremony would not be “authentically TSiBA” without it. Leigh Meinert afforded us the most breathtaking opportunity of taking us on a journey travelled by each and every one of the graduates as they walked up on stage to collect their degrees. Each story was different but the one common feature in each reflection is their demonstration of what it truly means to live by the TSiBA values.
