JUTA Book Project

11 Feb 2016

Written by Santosh Marrivagu

JUTA is sponsoring this project by donating R1.2 Million worth books, all new. An EME will be set up that will partner with JUTA and TSiBA and will be the enterprise responsible for the disbursement of the books. We are screening potential partners who can be this EME. Our focus is on getting onboard an entrepreneur, could as well be a group of TSiBA students, who can support this business sustainably over a long term. The EME will be a registered legal entity. It will contract with JUTA and will be held accountable for meeting the deliverables and targets agreed. TSiBA students will help build the EME by becoming agents and creating sales channels for the EME. The students will get books from us at nominal prices and will then sell them to customers, directly to end customers or through intermediaries, for a price they determine.

This will be a live project for the students as they will deal with real customers, real products, real sales and real beneficiaries. The aim is to give students an opportunity to experience firsthand the challenges entrepreneurs face when setting up their businesses and selling their ideas/products to the market. The project will prepare students for their consulting project with other real entrepreneurs during the NEU exchange program.
