Catch-up With Vision2020 and Our Alumni Stars

Dear Friends of TSiBA,

“Visioning a more impactful future at TSiBA”

With our remarkable history of educational success, we’re constantly striving to produce top graduates who are making a difference. Operating in a socio-political education landscape with #feesmustfall, TSiBA has now been placed in a “competitive” space with public universities for recruits, bursaries and funding – and we are proud of it!

We’ve always said our ultimate success will be when other institutions start seeing what we are seeing and start paying attention to the financial hurdle preventing so many talented youths from entering the world of work in a competitive, knowledge-driven economy. Our plans are to grab this unique opportunity to evolve by focusing on crafting a niche industry-targeted degree which will profoundly change the trajectory of our students with maximum impact on the communities we serve. This is TSiBA’s Vision2020.

To implement this new operational model, we will re-energise the look and feel of the brand and unfortunately we will also be closing the TSiBA Eden campus at the end of the year as an operational site of delivery. Whilst the Eden Campus will cease to operate, we are proud of what we contributed to the Eden Community. We injected between R30m - R40m over the last 8 years and touched the lives of thousands of people. We remain committed to recruit talent and run sustainable, pre-funded projects in the area - so it’s not a goodbye, but a different hello.

While we are very excited about our ambitious new plans for Vision2020 we carry the loss of a campus and the Eden staff. We remain deeply grateful for the time, commitment, energy and loyalty that so many members of the community poured into Eden and you remain part of the TSiBA family.

By bringing all our students under one roof in the heart of Cape Town, we can streamline our offering without impacting the excellent standard of education we’re known for.

We continue to drive social change and meet the future.

Yours in Igniting Opportunity,

Adri Marais

Alumni star continues to strive towards greatness

Congratulations to 2012 TSiBA BBA Graduate and Kofi Annan Scholar, Andile Dyonase, who passed the internationally accredited Chartered Financial Analyst Level 2 (CFA 2) exam while working as an Analyst at Johnson & Johnson in Antwerp, Belgium.

This challenging, but prestigious, qualification greatly enhances a financial professional’s career potential. (CFA Institute stats reveal the pass rate on Level 1 is 35% and only 50% for Level 2 & 3.)

Andile says, “I’m completely humbled by the experience I gained at TSiBA. I want to raise awareness about what one can achieve - especially to graduates to show that it's important to invest in yourself.”

Cape Town Awards Ceremony

Each semester we take some time out to have an Awards Ceremony and celebrate top achievers. TSiBA scholarship students give their all so they can excel and make their sponsors proud - which explains the long Merit List this year. Awards ceremonies are special days dedicated to not only the top achievers but to all students as a reminder that we need to be inspired to break boundaries and continually strive to greatness.

Congratulations to all our achievers as well as our staff members who also took away the titles for Favourite Staff Member: Anneke van Damme and Favourite Lecturer: Mustoffa Khan. See the full photo album here.

Volunteer appreciation

There many ways to volunteer at TSiBA and give of your time or expertise. No matter how much time it is, or where you are in the world. One example is Peter Hurst, an international TSiBA mentor based in Spain, who took time on a business trip to Cape Town to spend an evening with his six mentees.

Courage Chiringa, a BBA2 student said, “We are so grateful for Peter who is taking his personal time to help us become better leaders of today - and tomorrow - in our prospective careers.’’ Read more

Eden students graduate

Another cohort of CPBA and HCBA graduates celebrated being awarded their qualifications and the start of a new career path. Honorary Guest Speaker Gill Marcus, Former South African Reserve Bank Governor, inspired all to continue on their journey to success.

Another star of the show was TSiBA Eden Alumni speaker, Andrew Selondo, Eden HCBA Graduate and Cape Town BBA1 student.
Andrew reflected on his challenging journey from Pretoria to Plettenberg Bay Township before finding his way to a TSiBA scholarship.

"TSiBA is an institution that shapes one’s life into a life of meaning and purpose. I say this because here at TSiBA we live by some of the most profound values which become a part of our lives."
