New TSiBA Scholarship Students are Already Winners!

26 Feb 2013

The Tertiary School in Business Administration (TSiBA) 2013 Scholarship Ceremony took place in February to formally welcome and award new TSiBA students with their Higher Certificate in Business Administration (HCBA) scholarships. These students have earned their place at TSiBA – not only by meeting the admission criteria - but by also successfully completing the orientation process.

“TSiBA was founded as a not-for-profit higher education institution in 2004 with a mission to graduate entrepreneurial leaders who ignite opportunity and social change which is why we select people who want to make a difference in their communities. TSiBA graduates leave with a fully accredited business degree, 99% chance of finding a job and the skill set that enables them to successfully undertake advanced tertiary education.  TSiBA does not require students to pay the institution back for the full tuition scholarships that it provides, but rather to ‘Pay it Forward’ to their community” says Adri Marais CEO and TSiBA co-founder.

The event was MC’ed by Vera Ngalo and Joseph Maisels, final year Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA3) students, who were perfect examples of how TSiBA grooms exceptional, inspirational leaders and well-rounded individuals. The academic high achievers for the 2012 second semester were announced and ten students were awarded scholarships by the Lewis group Foundation to fund not only their studies, but a contribution towards subsistence costs. In addition, two students received the Alan Gray Orbis Foundation Fellowship for 2013. TSiBA has already provided scholarships to nearly 1,000 talented young people, who would otherwise not be able to access higher education, and produced 5 Mandela Rhodes scholars who, along with many other TSiBA graduates, have gone on to successfully pursue post-graduate studies.

Bethwill Cloete, TSiBA’s Recruitment Officer, and TSiBA graduate left a job at JP Morgan in favour of helping more people to access high quality education. Cloete says “After matric, so many people just sit at home. They cannot get a job and even if they are accepted at university many do not have the funds to pay for this. Getting a scholarship to study at TSiBA was a dream come true as I am the first person in my matric class of 60 to graduate with a degree. Now I want to help other people realise their dreams.”

TSiBA has two campuses, in Cape Town and the rural town of Karatara on the Garden Route. The institution offers a Certificate in Practical Business Administration at the further education level, a Higher Certificate in Business Administration and an accredited Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in Entrepreneurial Leadership. To be accepted at TSiBA applicants need to have matric, but can apply with a higher certificate instead of a degree level pass. Those who are older than 25 years can apply for recognition of prior learning.

Applications for 2014 are now open. For more information please contact Bethwill Cloete on 021 532 2750 or .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
