We are relieved to report that TSiBA Eden, staff and students are all fine and we appreciate the flood of emails we received from concerned supporters. Andre Kitshoff,  Eden’s Sustainability Manager, said “We made Eden’s hostel available as an emergency evacuation centre hosting five evacuees. This tragic disaster was an example of our staff living the ethos of TSiBA. We came together as one unit to ensure our staff and students were safe and the people in our community were offered a lifeline in a time of serious need.

We were all witness to the tragic fires that took place in the Southern Cape recently - especially in Knysna where thousands were displaced when the blazing fire took down nearly 400 homes. We are relieved to report that TSiBA Eden, staff and students are all fine and we appreciate the flood of emails we received from our concerned supporters.

Andre Kitshoff,  Eden’s Sustainability Manager said “We made Eden’s hostel available as an emergency evacuation centre for the displaced in the Knysna Municipality hosting 5 evacuees with us.This tragic disaster was an example of our staff living the ethos of TSiBA, we came together as a unit to ensure our staff and students were safe and the people in our community was offered a hand in a time of serious need.”

The report from TSiBA Eden campus is that during the fire and storms the Ignition Centre’s roof was blown off and a reception window shattered.  When the situation became more intense they initiated a “war room” to centralise local emergency activities and determine the status of students, staff and friends in the area and if they were out of danger. The disaster had knocked out the electricity and phone lines so staff made their personal cell phones available so members, students and their families knew they were safe.
