Course Overview

Stepping into management is one of the biggest shifts in any career — and most people make it without any real preparation. Your success stops depending on your own output and starts depending on how well you lead, delegate, prioritise and communicate through others, and that's exactly where new managers stumble. This course gets you ready for that shift before you make it.

Across six modules you build the manager's core toolkit: earning trust and credibility with a new team, including former peers, prioritising under competing demands, delegating without losing accountability, and handling coaching, feedback and difficult conversations with confidence — plus using AI responsibly as a management tool. You finish with a complete, personalised 90-Day Management Plan you can take straight into your first management role.

01Stepping into Leadership: Understanding the Role of a Manager

Output: a completed Management Readiness Assessment and two personal development goals that anchor the rest of the course.

02Building Trust and Credibility as a New Manager

Tackle the most delicate part of the transition: managing former peers, building psychological safety and establishing credibility with a new team.

Output: a 30-Day Trust-Building Plan for a realistic workplace scenario.

03Prioritising Work and Making Sound Decisions

Learn to manage competing demands using goal-setting and prioritisation techniques, including the Eisenhower Matrix, alongside practical decision-making frameworks and responsible AI support for planning. You'll apply it all in a priority-planning simulation.

Output: a repeatable decision-making method of your own.

04Delegating for Performance and Accountability

Master what, when and to whom to delegate — matching work to people's capabilities and development needs, setting clear expectations, and monitoring progress without micromanaging.

Output: a structured Delegation Plan that keeps accountability visible.

05Managing Performance Through Communication and Coaching

Build confidence in the conversations managers can't avoid: coaching versus directing, giving and receiving constructive feedback, and planning difficult performance discussions. You'll rehearse a real management conversation with an AI role-play partner.

Output: a finalised conversation plan.

06Future-Ready Management: Managing in a Changing World

Bring it all together with agility, human-centred leadership and continuous learning, and explore how AI supports planning, reflection and coaching — without replacing your judgement.

Output: a personal management development toolkit.
