Purpose

The Diploma in Information and Communication Technology(DICT) is a three-year, NQF Level 6 qualification designed to provide students with a solid foundation in the principles, practices, and applications of in-demand information and communication technologies. The programme integrates theoretical knowledge with experiential learning to ensure graduates are equipped with both conceptual understanding and practical competence.

Students are expected to engage critically with technological challenges and develop the ability to propose feasible, ethical, and sustainable ICT-based solutions to organisational and societal problems. A strong emphasis is placed on analytical thinking, professional responsibility, and the capacity to contribute effectively to both collaborative and independent projects.

Entry Requirements

Ambitious students interested in this programme will need:

  • National Senior Certificate with a Diploma
    Endorsement (or equivalent)

  • Minimum 22 points on the TSIBA Points System (TPS)

    • Mathematics: 40% or higher  OR

    • Mathematical Literacy: 60% or higher.

    • English: 50% or higher

    • OR A Higher Certificate in Information Technology,
      Business Administration, or an equivalent qualification

The TSIBA Diploma in ICT (DICT) is accredited at:

  • NQF level 6,

  • 378 credits

TSIBA Point System (TPS)

Points are based on the best 7 subjects, including English, an additional language and Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy.

Applicants who are 23 years or older, with significant work experience and alternative education/training in business administration/management may apply for admission via recognition of prior learning (RPL).

Opportunities for RPL admission are limited to 10% of any cohort and are dependent on the applicant’s demonstrated capacity to cope with the demands of the BBA curriculum.

Where the number of applications exceeds planned enrollment, applicants will be ranked according to TPS Points achieved.

The programme combines practical ICT skills with business applications, offering exceptional value for aspiring technology professionals.

Annual Subsidised Tuition Fee (excluding device):
R 37 500 per year

BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) Note Students are required to have their own laptop, preloaded with Windows and Microsoft Office Suite, that can run the prescribed programming tools, databases, and web development environments. Having Google Cloud Storage or an external hard drive is advantageous for backups.
